Cook's Ham $30 Gift Certificate Giveaway and ReviewCLOSED

If you are fearing the ghost of holiday meals past, then this contest is for you! Our family loves ham, we love to eat ham around the holidays or any given day. Cook's Hams are the very best and are most often what we buy. The flavors are great and of so juicy! With so many choices available you can visit http://www.cooksham.com/recipes/ for great recipe ideas!
Here is one that I love and would recommend.

Plum-Glazed Ham
Description
Plum jelly and horseradish pair up for a simple, yet elegant, glaze on a spiral sliced ham.

Ingredients

    * * 1 Cook's® Bone-in Spiral Sliced Half Ham

Plum Glaze

    * * 1/2 cup red plum jelly or preserves
    * * 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, drained
Preparation

   1. Remove and discard glaze packet from ham or reserve for another use. Prepare ham according to package directions, uncovering and brushing occasionally with the Plum Glaze for the last 30 minutes of the baking time.
   2. Plum Glaze: Mix jelly and horseradish in small bowl until well blended.
   3. Carve ham just before serving.

There are many brands of ham available to you, but to ensure consistent quality and a great tasting ham, look for the Cook's name. That’s because Cook's hams always begin with old-fashioned bone-in hams for a more natural texture and taste. We slow-cure our hams with natural ingredients like pure cane sugar, real honey, brown sugar and maple syrup. For the perfect finish, we smoke our hams for hours using real hickory wood. This process gives our hams a taste that separates Cook's hams from the rest. Since their introduction by Cook Family Foods in 1983, Cook's branded hams and other smoked meats have been packaged and sold to leading supermarket chains and independent grocers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. In fact, Cook’s is the nation's leading brand of traditional and spiral sliced smoked bone-in ham, corned beef and smoked picnics.

Cook's Hams is offering one of my lucky readers a 30.00 gift certificate towards any Cook's Ham , Please visit their store locator for your area

My first Thanksgiving turkey turned out terrible. So dry you had a hard time eating it.

My husband was a nearly brand newly minted 2nd Lieutenant in the army. We had only been married for a few months. Instead of having our own Thanksgiving dinner, we had to eat in the mess hall. We were forced to get all dressed up including "dress blues" for my husband. His commanding office the horrible Lt. L. had an equally horrible Mrs. Colonel for a wife. She made snide comments about not seeing me for so long. The enlisted guys who were in trouble were forced to wait on us. I was 22 yrs old and had guys older than me calling me "ma'am" because my husband was an officer. UGH!

I've had lots of bad experiences at the holidays, but no major food catastrophes. Maybe this year will be my first as I have to make Christmas dinner for my husband's entire family. It makes me sweat just thinking about it.

Last Thanksgiving everything was going along great until I went to put the turkey into my oven that was ice cold. The oven had died on the worst day possible and at the worst time as well! We ended up carting everything over to my mother's house across town... definitely a holiday for remembering!

A couple years ago I tried my hand at making some holiday fudge. To give as gifts, of course!

...it was pure liquid by the time I was "done". I don't know where I went wrong!

When I decided "oh this might be good on ice cream" I put it into a container where it became harder than a rock and certainly not very fudge-like!

Well, I spent this Thanksgiving throwing up for 24 hours straight. I won't give you all the details, but here's a hint- I don't think I will be able to make my special sweet potato casserole again for a very long time, or look at a turkey until at least next year.

My worst holiday past dinner hasn't happened yet. It will be this year because it'll be the first Christmas without my sister.

My worst holiday meal experience was the time I forgot to take the bag of giblets and the neck out of the turkey. Yucko. That paper was not meant to be put into the oven, was it?

My worst holiday dinner experience was the year I got sick on Christmas Eve and had to sit in the living and peer through the doorway to watch my family eat a fantastic meal. I had applesauce that night... and only applesauce!

I undercooked the turkey one year. We chopped off his wings and legs, and put him back in the oven!

Thankfully, that was the first year I served soup as a first course, so we were able to sit at the dinner table on time, and I encouraged everyone to take time to savor their soup!

My worst holiday meal experience was when a mouse decided to join us for Thanksgiving dinner and ran from the kitchen to the dining room just as we were sitting down to dinner. But we laugh about it now.

The worst turkey dinner was when the oven broke and the turkey was still raw. We had to use a hack saw and cut it in half to put in the microwave. All of our neighbors were not available. The turkey was cooked but it was not very brown.

My worst holiday dinner experience was the year (a long time ago) I decided I wanted to try a Cajun Deep Fried Turkey. The only place I could find one at the last minute was Kentucky Fried Chicken. Yeeeecch! Awful! I'll never hear the end of that one!
