{When Life Gives You O.J. Prize Pack Giveaway}

It's summertime!  Every year, my children's teachers say that it's important that kids continue reading over the summer so that they don't end up loosing ground with their reading skills by the time they get back to school in the fall.  Yet, it can be tough to get kids to read when beautiful weather, sprinklers, and pools are competing for attention.  We got the chance to read the book "When Life Gives You OJ" by Erica S. Perl and it's such a cute and enjoyable book that it can make getting kids to read easy.

Here's what it's about:   

“For years, almost-eleven-year-old Zelly Fried has tried to convince her parents to let her have a dog. After all, practically everyone in Vermont owns a dog, and it sure could go a long way helping Zelly fit in since moving there from Brooklyn. But when her eccentric grandfather, Ace, hatches a ridiculous plan involving a “practice dog” named O.J., Zelly’s not so sure how far she’s willing to go to win a dog of her own. Is Ace’s plan so-crazy-it-just-might-work… or just plain crazy?”

I love the idea of the "practice dog."  It's so cute.  The book is written for pre-teens and teen.  My eleven year old really got into it.  So much so that she read it in about two days.  Here's what she had to say:

"When Life Gives You O.J. is an awesome book.  It is really funny and cute.  My favorite part was what happened at the end.  I can't tell you what the end is or it would ruin it for you so you'll have to read it to find out.  The whole book was funny.  There were lots of parts that made me laugh.  It was totally funny when Zelly's friends saw O.J. for the first time."
