I try to drink a lot of water and end up using a lot of disposable plastic water bottles. I was trying to reuse them (both for the environment and for my budget), but the disposable bottles are thin plastic and don’t hold up well.
The Reduce Waterweek is a set of 5 bottles (they have 16 oz and 12 oz sizes) and a fridge tray. The bottles are made of PBA free plastic and are holding up well. I was a little bit worried that they would add a plastic taste to the water, but they don’t at all. Water from these bottles tastes great. They are very convenient. I wash them (they are top rack dishwasher safe) and fill them with the Brita pitcher that my husband gave me for Christmas, and I’ve got five water bottles ready to go. The fridge tray is nice too because it keeps them all lined up and organized on the countertop or in the fridge.
According to Reduce there are 25 million bottles being disposed everyday. I feel good that I’m not contributing to that anymore. They also say that using these instead of buying water in disposable bottles can save an average of $500 dollars per year. I’m probably saving at least that so I feel good about that too.
I have the naturals set, and they are so pretty, but they offer several colors too, and they have some cute kid’s designs. My daughter is asking for her own set. You can buy them on the Reduce site, or they have them at target.com or amazon.com.
I am trying to be greener. I don’t make official New Year’s resolutions, but if I had to that would probably be one for this year. I’m not sure I entirely understand the carbon footprint thing yet, but I have started trying to reduce the amount of waste we throw out. The Reduce Waterweek bottles are a great step in that direction. If any one has any “going green” tips, please leave a comment or drop me an e-mail. My next project is going to be to find a way to pack the kid’s lunches without using all the zip lock bags everyday.

These are so pretty! My husband is always stealing my water bottle. I love the idea of everyone in the family having their own color set and having a bunch on hand and chilling in the fridge.
