Keeping the kids busy at the dinner table can be a challenge in my house. I often will set them down with books, puzzles, crayons you name it, anything to keep them busy. Most times it ends up with a huge mess that I have to clean up before we can eat. I am all about keeping the kids busy and letting them be creative. That is why I love the kidz placemats from Modern-twist. They are made from silky food-grade, hand silk-screened silicone and are really unique.

One thing I love to do is decorate my house. I have a love for candles and you can tell that from every room is my home. However 90% of my candles go unburned due to safety and where they are located in the house. There are so many areas in my home that I use candles that would not be safe to light without moving. Eco Store USA Review and Giveaway (Ends 2/7)

I am now a little bit farther along with my attempts to go green thanks to EcoStore USA. I recently got the chance to try their Citrus Based Spray Cleaner and their Pure Oxygen Whitener and was pleasantly surprised with both.

Eco Store was originally started in New Zealand by Melanie and Malcolm Rands from their home in an eco village. I love the story, here’s an excerpt from their website:

“Each household in the village was responsible for their own waste water, which quickly highlighted the problems caused by using regular supermarket cleaning products that relied heavily on cheap, petroleum-based, synthetic ingredients.

Faced with the challenge of protecting the pristine rural waterways of the eco village, Malcolm Rands began to research and seek expert help from scientists to develop household cleaning products using plant-based ingredients that would biodegrade safely and quickly. Achieving his goal, he eliminated the need to use toxic chemicals, leaving the eco villages water pure. His goal was more than accomplished as the product line of this home-based business began to grow, and an exciting future began to unfold.”

Ecostore is a great eco-friendly company that makes products with “no nasty chemicals,” I love this.

When I received the box, I opened it and saw packing peanuts. My first thought was “Wow, THAT can’t be very eco friendly. But as it turns out, it is. They use soy-based packing peanuts and all recyclable materials. Being used to the old foam packing peanuts, I had no idea that these even existed. I tried holding one under the faucet (What can I say, I love testing things!) And sure enough, it “melted” away. How cool is that! I love that the company is totally eco-friendly, not just with their cleaners, but even when it comes to the way they ship them to you!

Citrus Spray Cleaner
I love the Spray Cleaner. It works great, and is "naturally antibacterial." It has a pleasant citrus smell that is not over powering. Before learning about eco store, I had never thought about the fumes that common surface cleaners leave in the house. I love that I can use this, get things clean, and not have my family exposed to those chemicals. I also love the photo on the bottle. I actually don’t like cleaning at all, but the label of the bottle makes me smile every time I pick it up.

Pure Oxygen Whitener

I was pleased with the way this worked too.  Now, the instructions say for best results, dissolve the powder in the water and then let the clothes soak for a couple hours. The first time I tried it, I didn’t follow the instructions (I was feeling rebellious that day, I guess) I just tossed it in with the detergent and ran the wash normally, and honestly I didn’t see much of a difference. The next time I used it, I followed the instructions and noticed a big difference. It seems to whiten as well as, if not better than, regular bleach. And it does it without that strong bleach smell.  I also love the fact that I don’t have to worry about ruining what I’m wearing. (I have ruined more than a few shirts and a pair of jeans over the years by accidentally splashing a few drops of bleach on them.)

Huge Hippie Wicks Juicy Orange & Pomegranate Couture Soap

Hippie Wicks is a friendly Etsy shop that I love. Hippie Wicks has eco-friendly candles, soaps and pottery. I had the great pleasure of trying a few of their products. Candles and soap, there is nothing better when they are great! And these are.
Lets start off with the candles. I tried the Strawberries and Champagne and the Mulberry. I love the great containers her candles came to me in. One was a great but yet simple metal container that I really liked because it kinda can go anywhere and look great. The other was a awesome jar, just a simple glass jar with a great metal lid with a design in it. Again I loved the simplicity of this candle. But my favorite of two would be the Mulberry. This one is awesome, I don't even have to light it to smell it. I keep it on my bedroom mantel and enjoy the smell as I stroll through the hall! I totally recommend them.
I have to tell you about the soaps. Cannot say enough goods things about it but I will try. Let me just say awesome. I am truly in love with the lemon. It is the most amazing soap. I love to wash my face with it every morning. For some really great reason it seams to be lasting longer than some other soaps I have tried. My skin feels great and the lemon is amazing, I am looking forward to using the others.
I am really inspired by them, they are located in Long Beach, MS which was pretty much completely destroyed during Katrina so they donate candles to their little girls schools and do fundraisers to help recover even 4 years later after Katrina. I think that is really cool and I could not be more happy to their products and would suggest you go and check out their shop and read a little more about them.


We are located in the heart of the Mississippi Gulf Coast right on the beach in Long Beach MS. We make wheel thrown pottery, hand poured candles, and soaps. We are also working on integrating our own organic shampoo and shower gels line soon. All of our products are vegan friendly and we try to stay with all eco friendly base products. All of our candles are hand poured with the premium ecosoya biodegradable soy wax and our fragrances are all natural or premium essential oils
