{Bing’s Our School Needs Contest}

If you have school aged kids, you’ll want to hear about this!  It's a chance to win some money for your school.  With all of the budget cuts that  are affecting our schools, now more than ever our schools have needs that are getting pushed aside because of lack of funding -- everything from major improvements to smaller things like tools and supplies.

At our school, they have had to cut back on teachers so class size has increased significantly this year.  I volunteer in the classrooms frequently and have already seen how that increase in class size is stretching the science kits and art tools and other supplies to their limits. To cope with limited budgets, we are very fortunate that our school has a very active Parent Teacher Organization that raises a lot of money through various fund raisers.  But even with those funds, there always seems to be more things that the school needs.

I’m sure you or your kids can think of things that your school needs.  If not ask a teacher or the principal, I’d bet they could make a long list. Bing is offering the opportunity for kids to win money for their school in the “Our School Needs” contest.  How great would it be to have your child submit the winning contest entry that gets your school the money to buy band instruments, a new basketball court, a computer lab, or new playground equipment?   They would be the coolest kid in school! lol

You can take a look at this cute video with your kids that explains the contest and get all the info here.

Here’s a bit about how it works from the contest website:

What To Do

Students can work in groups, classes, or even school-wide to write an essay and take pictures finishing the sentence "Our School Needs: ___________."

To Enter

   1. Write an essay (500 to 800 words)
   2. Take pictures (3 to 5 photos)
   3. Film a video (not required, but fun! Maximum of 3 minutes in length)

Who Can Enter

Any student or teacher from a K-12 school can enter. While students under 18 are encouraged to create the entry, a parent, legal guardian or a teacher must submit it.

What Could Your School Win?

Bing will award a quarter-million dollars, divided among four schools—$50,000 to three first-prize winners, and one $100,000 grand prize.
