{Go Go Sports Girls Doll} + Giveaway

Walk down any "pink" aisle in the toy department and you'll see how the dolls go from baby-dolls that need to be cared for to teen-dolls with too-much make-up and skimpy clothing. There really aren't many choices in between.

If you are a mom to a girl, you know how hard it can be to find dolls that are age-appropriate, affordable, cute, and fun. Go Go Sports Dolls are all of those things and more. They are an adorable line of dolls that are designed to encourage girls to be active and develop positive self-esteem and healthy lifestyles. The 14" dolls each have a sports uniform and accessories - there is a choice of golf, soccer, running, tennis, gymnastics, dance, softball, swimming, and basketball.  Here are images of a few of them:

I love the story behind them. Their creator, Jodi Norgaard, is a mom who was realized there was a need for a doll that "would be age appropriate, proportioned properly and send a positive message about a healthy lifestyle" - so she created one (with the input of her 10 year old daughter). The Go Go Sports Girls received the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award in 2009 and the Creative Child Magazine 2009 Seal of Excellence. The company also gives a portion of their profits to Girls Inc which is an organization that inspires all girls to be "strong, smart, and bold"

The dolls themselves are soft and lightweight. They are also durable, easy to carry around, and great for cuddling. The dolls come with a tag attached that tells about them and their positive activities and habits which encourages girls to identify with the dolls and hopefully try to be like them too because they are great roll models.

These would make a great gift for the little girls on your list. I love the "dream big and go for it" message of these dolls.
