{Timez Attack - Multiplication Game}

Its that time of year again, the kids are back in school and hard at work. If you have a child that needs to learn their times tables this year - or needs to review them :-)  - we came across a great computer game called Timez Attack.  The game takes what is basically flashcard practice and turns it into an exciting adventure.

I love things that help me get organized! {Cool Timer - Free Timer Program}

I have been using a free timer program that I wanted to tell you guys about.  My son used it in class last year and he was so excited by it that we had to put it on our computer at home.

It's called Cool Timer.  It's easy to set, and can be used as a countdown timer, a stopwatch, or an alarm clock.  The coolest part is that it lets you choose from a bunch of different noises that signal the end of the time - many of which make the kids crackup.  You can also use your own sound files as the end of time signal.  It's so much more fun than the kitchen timer!

I love finding toys that inspire my kids to use their imagination. Often most toys are brightly colored with lights and sounds that are not only annoying but leaves me wondering what the heck are they made of? {Smucker's Uncrustables}

My kids have always loved traditional Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches. I totally knew they would love Smucker's Uncrustables. Have you heard of them? A yummy soft sandwich that your kids will love. My kids had fun picking which kind they wanted to try and we decided on Peanut Butter and Grape. They were a hit. Super convenient and they ate them!! With their great variety, you are able to get each of  your kids their favorite kind.

{Square Cat Habitat - “Itch” Wall Scratcher}

If you have cats, you've got to take a look at Square Cat Habitat. They've got a beautiful line of cat trees shelves, and scratching posts that have a very clean, modern look. Finally, cat furniture that is cool enough for the cat attitude! Lol.

My cat has always loved his scratching post -- one of those carpet covered ones with post sticking up from the base. However, I was never crazy about it since it always seemed to be in the way. I get really tired of stubbing my toe on it and telling the kids not to lean on it. It finally broke (yep, the kids) and I was glad that I hadn’t replaced it before I discovered the ones Square Cat Habitat has.

{Dinosaur Train: Dinosaurs Under the Sea DVD}

Both my younger kids are huge Dinosaur Train fans. We watch every morning and my kids have learned so much from Buddy, Tiny , Shiny and Don. They make it fun for younger kids to learn about paleontology and science. Both my kids each have a favorite character and love playing the Dinosaur Train game online at pbskids.org . Dinosaur Train is one show i totally feel comfortable with my kids watching and often sit and watch with them. We had the chance to review a copy of Dinosaur Train: Dinosaurs Under the Sea DVD. My kids were so excited and loved this DVD. It came packed with 8 episodes that my kids can watch anytime! The DVD includes these awesome episodes-

So most of you know from my posts that i totally have issues with my hair! It is very long and naturally curly. But i was not blessed with even nice textured curls. {Kitchen Clean Up Game – Kitchen Ninjas}

When my kids were in the 4 to 9 age range, they started to go into the kitchen and get their own snacks or drinks. That was great; I love that my kids are independent. What I didn’t love was the mess that they started leaving – cracker crumbs, puddles of milk and juice, smudges of peanut butter - it seemed like every time I walked into the kitchen, they had left a mess.

So I came up with the “Kitchen Ninjas and Samurai Mom” game. My kids loved ninjas at the time – they knew how ninjas were sneaky and never left any trace that they had been someplace. So I told the kids that they were going to pretend to be Kitchen Ninjas. Every time they went in the kitchen to get a snack, they had to be sure to clean up any mess and leave no trace so that Samurai Mom didn’t know they had been there.

They loved this game and would start laughing and quickly wipe up if “Samurai Mom” were heading in that direction. They loved outsmarting Samurai Mom. We even kept score on a paper on the fridge – ninjas would get a point if mom couldn’t see that they had been in the kitchen, and Samurai Mom got a point if a mess was left. Samurai Mom always gave advance warning of her approach; the clean counters were waaayy better than points  :-)

Unfortunately, my kids have outgrown this game, but I thought I would pass it along to see if it might work for you and your kids.

One of the things that I think got my kids really excited about this game was that we had read the Magic Treehouse Series Book #5 - Night of the Ninjas in which Jack and Annie hang out with ninjas and escape a samurai.

{NuboNau}

I recently had the pleasure of trying an item from NuboNau.  NuboNau carries a high-quality line of natural and organic skin care products including La Bella Donna, Pai, REN, Arcona, and many more. NuboNau has an online boutique with a beautiful website. NuboNau, which is pronounced [new-bo-now], means "Cloud 9" in Esperanto.  You definitely feel as if you are on Cloud 9 when shopping with NuboNau.  On a side note, I discovered that Esperanto is a "constructed international language" which is made up of many different world languages.  The goal of which was to “break down barriers between people and foster peace.”  How cool is that?

I got the opportunity to try the SheerinO’kho facial cleanser which I love.  I was immediately impressed with the packaging.  The glass product-container was wrapped with tissue paper and wrapped in Geami paper. (a very attractive and environmentally friendly alternative to bubble plastics.)    Also included was an organza bag full of sample products, all of which I love, there was also a nice handwritten card/tag, and they even include "first opened on" stickers to keep track of the dates on your products.   The cleanser itself is awesome.  I have combination skin and the cleanser cleans well, removes oil, and is non-drying -  love it.   From the packaging, to the pleasant customer service interaction, to the amazing products, I completely enjoyed the entire NuboNau experience!

{Light Switch Cover}

Today i made this normal light switch into something a little bit more fun and girly for my daughters room. I had so much fun making this and it came out great, totally matches the room. I have made them before just using scrap booking paper and my imagination. This time i decided to add a little embellishment with hot pink ribbon. I think the sky is really the limit here. Next time i think i will add some bling with rhinestones or something. If you have tried this or have any suggestions feel free to leave a comment!

 It is pretty, feminine and very comfortable. I normally don’t discuss cost in my reviews since value really is relative, but I do have to say that in my opinion Affinitas Intimates has done a great job of combining high quality and style with affordability.

Since I have my cute new bra and panty set, I was very excited to try the Berry Ball and bag as well. The Berry Ball is a specially designed container used to wash bras and can be used to keep bras from getting crushed during travel.

I have to admit I’m one of those people who just tosses my bras in with the rest of the laundry. I know I should handwash, but it’s just too time consuming. The idea of the Berry ball is to let you wash bras in the washer, but helps them maintaining shape, comfort and support giving you hand-washed results. You do need to hang them to dry. The ball also has a Scrubbing Ball that is “specifically designed to clean bra cups from the inside, creating friction to both clean and aid in dissolving detergent as well”

The berry bag is used wash underwear, hosiery, socks and other delicates and can be used for travel as well. Its very well designed. It even has a little flap that the zipper tucks under to keep it from coming open in the wash.  The Berry Ball and Bag seem work great so far (I’ll update you after I’ve used them longer), and I’m happy that I can take better care of my undergarments without any extra work!

{The Chore Cup}

I am trying a new idea at my house. I get tired of my elementary aged kids fighting over chores. I hear a lot of : “It’s not fair! I vacuumed/dusted/took out the trash/insert-chore-name-here last time.”   In an effort to curb the fighting, I am trying a Chore Cup. I don’t remember where I heard about the idea, but I figured it would be a great time to try it as we are adjusting to the new back-to-school routine.

What you do is put the chores on popsicle sticks and put them into a cup. At chore time, each child pulls out a stick and does the chore on the stick. I am trying a color coding system since my son hates some chores that daughter likes and vice versa. So some chore sticks will have a green dot for my sons chores, some a pink dot for daughter, and some will include both dots for either. I suppose the colored dots could also be used to label them for age (like pre-school chores on the orange dotted sticks, middle schoolers on the red dotted sticks.)

In order to make it fun, I also am including some other things that aren’t chores like play your favorite video game for 10 minutes, run a lap around the yard, draw a picture, etc…
